A drawback is a touring exhibition displaying drawings from international artists that share a passion for this medium.
First shown during the Edinburgh Arts Festival, this is now the second leg of the tour. Perennial Art see this exhibition as an opportunity to celebrate the diversity and richness of this ancient practice.
Over the last 10 years there has been a major drawing revival within the contemporary art world. Thanks to the Centre for Drawing at Wimbledon College of Art in London, which began the first Masters drawing course in Europe in 2000 and the emergence of galleries and institutions that focus entirely upon exhibiting and selling contemporary drawings, finally it is seen as an independent artistic discipline in its own right.
Many artists are now creating drawings or are returning to its values. The artists chosen for this exhibition are from mid career to established practicing artists, working in various mediums, including watercolour and human hair.
Perennial Art is a group of contemporary artists that curate a diverse range of themed exhibitions within temporary spaces.
The aim is to introduce emerging and established international contemporaries to a new public.
Perennial Art is a conceptual art group that works in a similar nature to the definition of our chosen name. Exhibitions take on the form of plants, producing cuttings that we sow into foreign land as touring shows.
Perennial first grew in Edinburgh yielding exhibitions such as, Edinburgh House and A drawback. The off cut/stem of Edinburgh House blossomed into Haus Berlin. Now A drawback has firmly taken root in Berlin and grown a few extra buds.
